In her younger years, Wendy participated in Special Olympics and bowling. She worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, always giving her best. While working at Holiday Inn, she was especially proud to earn both Employee of the Month and later Employee of the Year. At age 68, Wendy happily announced she was ready to retire from her job scanning court records.
Wendy enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved playing bingo, shopping, and going out to eat. She was a fan of cooking shows, especially The Pioneer Woman (also known as the redheaded lady), and often found inspiration for meals and desserts, including her fancy cherry pie. Wendy loved giving advice on what others should make for meals. She was always eager to help others whenever she could.
Strong-willed and determined, Wendy knew how to go after what she wanted. Her sister encouraged her to set her mind to things and pursue them, something Wendy truly embraced. Above all, she made sure those around her knew how much she loved them.
Wendy is survived by her fur daughter, Smokey; her sisters, Catherine Siegrist and Kimberly Siegrist; her nieces, Tiffany Hall (Wayne) and Amber Brown (Matt); her great-niece and great-nephew, Madysin Brown and Harvey Brown; many cousins; longtime friend Karen Wolfe; grandchildren, Patrisha Henderson, Kameelah Fletcher, La’Trice Young, Jonathan Barlow, and Jayden Thomas; and her Abled Family, who meant so much to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne E. Siegrist and Lynoma A. (Bockoven) Siegrist; her brother, Robert (Bob) Siegrist; and her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Wendy will be remembered for her kindness, her determination, her love of life’s joys, and for always reminding others how much they were loved.
