David W. Grum, 65, of West Palm Beach, Florida and formerly Tinton Falls, NJ, passed suddenly at home on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Predeceased by his beloved parents, Henry W. Grum and Ann M. (Simoncic) Grum, David was a devoted son, nephew, and cousin, a cherished friend and co-worker, and parakeet daddy to Oscar. Born and raised in Linden, NJ, he grew up surrounded by a huge and loving extended family. He capped a successful career in banking and technology, retiring after 30 years of service with JPM Chase. David’s talents and attention to detail were legendary. He could as easily take apart a car engine as he could sew exquisite drapes and window treatments. Never one to sit still, he always had his next project planned out before the last one was finished and he took pride in all his creations down to the very last detail. He was an accomplished cook and baker, plumber, carpenter, tailor, mechanic, and formidable techno-prodigy. He was also the first port of call for all of his friends and family who leaned on him for expert advice on just about anything. There is no day that will pass now when we won’t reach out for him and wish he was still here. He was truly loved by all who knew him.
A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2022 ,10:00 AM at St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church 600 Myrtle St. Elizabeth NJ 07202. The committal service will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia NJ.
