Katherine E. Gallichio, who lived a long and fulfilling life of 95 years.
She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
Katherine was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, but made a wonderful life for herself and her two beloved children, Charlene Braun and Michelle Fitz, in nearby Elizabeth. There, Katherine became the owner and operator of Avenue Launder Center on Elizabeth Avenue for over 30 years. After retiring in 1996, Katherine settled down with her family in Toms River.
Despite any challenges or hardships she faced while juggling her solo business and raising two children, she never lost her faith or her sense of humor. Katherine was a loving and caring mother, grandmother known as “Babci,” and friend who touched the lives of all those around her with her kindness and generosity. She was a role model to her children and grandchildren, teaching them the importance of hard work, determination, and compassion.
Katherine will be deeply missed by those who were lucky enough to love her. Her kind and vivacious spirit will live on in the memories of all those who knew her. She leaves behind her two daughters, Charlene and Michelle, along with husband Michael Fitz. As well as her grandchildren, Stefanie, Kelly, Alex, Andrew, Nicole, Allison, Madison and Matei.
A viewing will be held on Monday, April 17 at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home in Linden, NJ, from 4-8pm, followed by a mass of Christian burial at St. Adalbert's Church in Elizabeth on Tuesday, April 18, at 10:00 am. Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Our family would like to thank all those who have offered their love and support during this difficult time.
