Matthew Becerra

Matthew Becerra gained his angel wings suddenly on July 11, 2022 at the age of 10. He was a student at Jefferson School in Union. Matthew loved playing Fortnite and video games with his friends and cousins. He loved music and dancing. His favorite food was Mac and Cheese, Blue Raspberry Italian Ice, and mommy’s cooking. His favorite color was blue. He enjoyed traveling, family and friends’ gatherings, learning new things and helping others.

Matthew was a bright light. He was a fighter; he was strong and didn’t give up. He was thoughtful and touched the lives of everyone he met. He cared about others and always wanted to help. He had an unforgettable smile and a funny sense of humor. He had BIG dreams, ambitions and aspirations. He wanted to be the CEO of Google and would say he would one day own a Bugatti.

Matthew was the beloved son of Claudia (nee Mejia) and Nodier Becerra. Dear grandson of Maria Luisa Salazar and, the late Hector Fabio Mejia and Gloria Mejia Falla. Matthew is also survived by his aunt, Paola Mejia and her husband, Andres Navia, his uncle Victor Hugo Mejia, and his late wife, Carolina DeLosRios Mejia, his aunts, Alejandra Becerra and Liliani Becerra. Matthew is also survived by his loving cousins Juan Jose Mejia, Valentina, David Becerra, Maria Alejandra Becerra, Irene Tejada. Loving Godson of Jennifer Mejia and Gustavo Catano.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home on Monday, July 18, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A mass will be held on Tuesday July 19, 2022. Departure from the Funeral Home will be at 9:00 a.m., Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows, 214 Prospect Street, South Orange, New Jersey.
