

Steve Kornas, Jr., 89, of Monroe, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020 with his loving family by his side. Born in Elizabeth to the late Steve and Mary Kornas, he was an Army Veteran and he lived in Colonia, N.J. for 64 years before moving to Monroe Township, N.J. Steve was proud to serve his country and was a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. He was a life-long parishioner of St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Elizabeth, NJ.
Steve was the beloved husband of 54 years to the late Maryann (Korytko) Kornas; devoted father of dear son, Stephen J. Kornas and his wife Patricia, of Freehold, N.J.; dear son, Michael R. Kornas and his wife Alexandria, of Saint Mary’s, Georgia; and loving daughter, Maryann J. Dustal and her husband Alan, of Monroe Township, N.J., cherished grandfather of Stephen and Andrew, Nicholas (wife Marie) and Victoria, Michael and Brianna, whose grandfather ‘Dido’ meant the world to all of them; sister Olga of Monroe Township, brother Theodore of Nutley and late brother Michael of Somerville.
Steve was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather ‘Dido’. He always had a smile to brighten your day, the first to offer a helping hand, and always had kind words to say. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all that knew him.
