Sydney Carew

Sydney “Pops” Carew, son of George and Rosie and brother of Desmond, Carlton, Stephen, Lorna, Dickie and uncle to many nieces and nephews peacefully passed away at home with his family by his side on Friday September 26, 2025. Sydney is survived by his wife Loretta, and his 8 children Michelle, Natasha, Trevor, Steve, Beverly-Ann, Seon, Phillip, and Blossom, twenty grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Sydney migrated to the United States from Georgetown, Guyana in June 1987, and created a home in Roselle, New Jersey. A man of family values, he was a rock and took pride in being there for and taking care of them, whether they asked or not, he was always there. Sydney was proficient in many things and further took pride in taking care of his plants, working on cars and feeding stray animals. Sydney’s humor knew no bounds, cracking jokes and making fun to entertain those around him.

While he had some health issues, he lived a prosperous and humble life. We were so fortunate to have him in our lives. He left a deep and indelible impact on everyone, and we were so, so fortunate to have him with us.

A visitation for Sydney will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at KROWICKI MCCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME, 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ 07036. Follow by a prayer service at 10:30 AM. Entombment will be at Saint Gertrude Cemetery & Mausoleum, 53 Inman Ave, Woodbridge, NJ 07067.
