

Alvah was born on April 16th, 1930, a son to Freeman and Ruth White. He attended Lisbon schools and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1948. He also attended 3 summers of music school in Farmington, Maine. In 1951, Alvah entered the United States Navy where he served until 1955. During his time in the Navy, he received a commendation medal for averting a disaster, which was a proud accomplishment for him. In 1956, Alvah began his career at Central Maine Power, retiring in 1991.
He met his future wife Elizabeth Palmer and the two were married on April 20th, 1962.
In his free time, Alvah really enjoyed spending time gardening, traveling and reading.
Alvah is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Robert and Arthur White, as well as his sisters Lois Chretien and Gertrude Andrews.
He leaves behind his adoring wife Elizabeth, his son Wayne White of Topsham, his daughters Glenda White and husband Terry Butler of South Carolina, Karen LaHood and husband Joseph of Lisbon Falls and Victoria White of Lisbon Falls. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Michael White, Jessica Turcotte, Elizabeth Sisk, Tristan Harvey, Timothy White, Brittney LaHood, Joshua Garland, Gabrielle Garland and Alex Hanford as well as several great grandchildren.
