

Durham - Dylan C. Oliver, 22, of Durham, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. He was born in Bath, Me., on May 24, 1991, the son of Christopher and Deborah (Hasselman) Oliver. He attended local schools graduating from Brunswick High School in the class of 2009. He studied Mechanical Engineering for one year at The University of Southern Maine before going to work at Bath Iron Works. In his school years he played football and was active in the Boy Scouts. He was an avid reader with a passion for making people laugh and debating everything from film to politics to life with friends and family. Many knew Dylan as a loyal friend that was nice to everyone he met. He was an extremely intelligent autodidact that loved jazz and being with family as much as possible. Dylan is survived by his parents: Christopher and Deborah Oliver of Durham, 2 sisters: Maggie Oliver of Durham and Katie Oliver of Portland, Or., 2 foreign exchange student brothers: Jintao (Elton) Jiao, from China, Thanawut (Fresh) Phongkasempornkul from Thailand, Maternal grandmother: Joan Hasselman, several aunts, uncles, cousins and a great circle of friends. He was predeceased by his Maternal grandfather: David A. Hasselman, paternal grandparents: Charles and Christine Oliver. Visitation will be held at The Crosman Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
