DURHAM: Elizabeth J. Koval, 84, of Durham peacefully passed away on Sunday August 25, 2019 at her home in Durham with her loving family by her side. She was born in Trenton, NJ on June 28, 1935 a daughter of the late Carl and Eva (Webber) Krause. Shegrew up in the local area and attended Ewing High School.
She married John "Jack" Koval on March 1, 1956 in New Jersey and the two of them started a family together. During that time Elizabeth dedicated herself to taking care of the wants and needs of her family at home. They moved to Maine in 1972.
Elizabeth will always be remembered for her love of spending quality time with her family and friends, especially the little ones. Everyone called her "Gram" because of her love and generosity for children. She enjoyed many trips to Atlantic City with Jack and her sisters spending her children's inheritance. One of her most recent passions was sitting on her porch and soaking up the sun and relaxing with a glass of wine. She will be deeply missed by many.
She is survived by her children; Lawrence Koval, Patricia Freeman and her husband Fred, Joan Koval, Debbie Koval and her boyfriend Zeke Harris, Donna Koval all of Durham along with her newly found daughter, Joan Shannon of Philadelphia, PA. She also leavesbehind her siblings, Diane, Doris and Carl as well as her grandchildren; Joseph Freeman, Amy Koval, Nicholas Freeman, Ashlea Koval, Thomas Freeman, Mackenzie Freeman and Gwennavere Koval; her great-grandchildren, Hannah, Maizy, Jack, Maddox, Ella, Bryleigh, Taylin, Cole, Natalea, Wyatt, Riley, Ryker and Finnegan along with many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John in 2010, her son, John, her daughter, Barbara, her grandson, John, her siblings, Eva, Charlotte and Shirley.

Visiting hours will be held at Crosman on Thursday August 29, 2019 from 4-7pm. A funeral service will be celebrated at the funeral home on Friday August 30, 2019 at 11am followed by committal prayers at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lisbon Falls.
