John Jerry McKay Jr.

AUBURN: John Jerry McKay, Jr., 58, of Lisbon passed away Sunday April 10, 2016 at the Hospice House in Auburn, following a long battle with alcoholism. John was born on April 2, 1958, a son of the late John and Alice (Fowler) McKay. He was raised in Durham, Maine and attended Durham Elementary school and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1976. John met Jolene in February 1978 and the two married on May 26, 1989. From here John embarked upon his most notable accomplishment, his family. The two had three boys that John loved and cared for more than anything. From teaching sports to camping trips he was a devoted father and his family meant everything to him. John was a machinist and later a maintenance technician at Bath Iron Works, he was known by many for his work ethic and ability to put smiles on faces with dirty jokes or just his radiant personality. John had a passion for nearly all sports. His favorite being baseball, which he played all throughout school and even after graduating school. He loved to play golf, but even he would admit it was not his strong point. He was a man with a big heart, a big smile and big appetites. These attributes may have ultimately lead to his early passing, but these were the things we all knew John for and came to love him for. He lived by such simple statements as “Right, Wrong and Respect.” A man of integrity, a man of excess, but most of all, a man of love. He is survived by his three sons, Ryan McKay, Joshua McKay and Dylan McKay as well as his siblings William McKay, Joyce Eaton, Joan Clark and Charles McKay. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Lydia McKay and Levi McKay along with many aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service for John will be held on Saturday April 16th, 2016 at 2pm at the funeral home. All friends and family who loved and cared for John are welcome to come celebrate the life of a man that touched so many of us.
