

Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Richard C. Ahern, Jr., for 55 years until his passing in 2020. The couple were introduced to each other by Pam and Dick Wells, and were married on November 28, 1964. Together, they raised four children, Patricia, Michael, Erin, and Ryan. They were long time residents of Riverdale, IL before moving to Lisle.
She worked in the construction loan industry, with many years spent at Harris Bank Hinsdale. Barbara was very active in her grandchildren's lives, always making them a priority in her life. When she wasn't spending time with her grandkids, she was helping her children to paint or redecorate their homes. In her downtime, Barbara enjoyed reading and genealogy. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and her great sense of humor.
Barbara is survived by her children, Patricia (Anthony) Ahern Otero, Michael Ahern, Erin (Timothy) Wiggs, and Ryan (Stephanie) Ahern; grandchildren, Rhianne, Regan, and Ryan, Jr. Ahern, and Tyler and Spencer Wiggs; step-grandson, Cole Junge; siblings, Roger Dahlke, Dennis (Roberta) Dahlke, Darlene (Kenneth) Kramer, and Pamela Wells; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Sullivan; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard; her parents; brother, John Dahlke; brothers-in-law, Richard Wells, and Arthur Ahern; and sister-in-law, Alice Watson Fussell.
A Celebration of Barbara's Life will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 5015 Lincoln Ave., Lisle, from 11am-1pm.
