Randy was my very first boyfriend in 5th grade at St. Frances of Rome. We did reconnect online and was looking forward to seeing him again once this Pandemic subsided. I am very sorry for your loss and do remember Randy's brother David . So young!

Randy and I go way back, all the way to Morton East.  A shock to hear of Randy's passing.  He and I would cross paths, have a few . 
 laughs while checking out the girls in the halls or Morton.  Randy would have that smile that would crack you up.  He was terrific.  It is very sad to hear Randy has left us, but he now has new adventures in Heaven

Randy embraced Life, laughter, and fun with every fiber of his being. His smile and energy lit up a room like no one else could.  He always wanted happiness to be in your heart.  He would say, 'Smile!  God loves you!'

If you needed a helping hand with anything, Randy would be there first. He had a knack for knowing what to do and how to do it best.  He'd put his great big heart into it.

Randy was the first foodie I ever knew.  He loved to cook and  collect recipes, and he'd put his own spin them to make them his own delicious dishes.  He was always eager to share!  His favorite places to go were good Italian restaurants, Sushi bars, and his good friends' or family's for dinner.  Christmas Eve with family meant that he'd be bringing trays of Baked Stuffed Mussels, which would be devoured in no time.

We shared a love of the West, especially Northern Arizona, and explored every mile of it. He developed an interest in Native American culture and became friends with a well-known Hopi-Navaho artist famous for his Kachina carvings. Randy soon had some for his collection.
And then, he found Sedona and OakCreek Canyon. This became his happy place.  But even happy places can have their challenges with life.

Randy's son Gino and his grandsons, Carmine and Nico, were his everything.  Conversations he had always included them and their pictures with such pride! Gino was his heart, and Carmine and Nico were his soul.

Your journey continues, Rand, there are no good-byes.




Randy had a big heart and he loved being part of a pack, whether it was made up of family or friends. Soon after I met him, more than 46 years ago, he proposed the idea of a compound where he and his friends all could have houses. I thought it was a sweet idea. 
Many of my memories of Randy center around food and laughter, whether at dinners at my home or at restaurants. He loved good food. He was a fan of my cooking and he was a pretty good chef himself, especially his painstakingly prepared carnitas. 
Lots of different scenes come to mind through these 46 years. The time "the guys" made T-shirts to sell at concerts in Chicago. Sometimes the silk-screened shirts were made in the garage at Randy's parents' house on 61st Court. Randy's mother Carol and I were tasked with folding the shirts. I remember she said to me: "Fold them just like you fold your husband's T-shirts." She soon found out my folding skills were weak, but she was patient with me. 
The memory of Randy that puts the biggest smile on my face was made on a T-shirt selling night at Chicago Stadium. Randy, out of nowhere, jumped on top a parked car and sang at the top of his lungs Peter Frampton: "Do you, YOU, feel like I do?" He made us all smile. He was so joyful and comical. 
Life, however, is complicated and is not all joy-filled, carefree moments in time. But that spontaneous burst of song, that exuberance, his joy is that moment is what I will remember Randy by. 
"I don't believe where I've been
Come on, we're gonna do it again."
Someday, dear Rand, we will do it again!
