Roberta O. Sweeney

Roberta, best known as Bobbie, Sweeney, 82 of Lisle, IL. Beloved wife of John for 59 years. Loving mother of Erin, Chris (Brooke), Meg (Chris) Bachmann and Sarah. Cherished grandmother of Zach, Ben and Josh Bachmann, Avelin and Mollie Sweeney, Raegan and Cavan Esberger. Dear sister of Greta Rusk. Treasured aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Lowell and Lauretta Olson and her sister Janice Bruozis.

Bobbie loved history and planning historically focused trips for the family. She was a passionate reader and took great pride and joy in passing on her love of reading to future generations as the elementary school librarian. Prior to becoming a librarian, she was very involved in St. Joan of Arc Parish both on the religious education board as well as a RE teacher. She was also very involved in the home and school organization through her children’s middle school years.

Fond memories of her childhood family vacations at a lake house in Michigan led to establishing a tradition with her children and grandchildren with annual vacations to Hayward, Wisconsin.

A visitation for Roberta will be held from 10-11 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 820 Division St, Lisle, IL 60532, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 A.M.
