

Funeral services for Carol Lyn VanDeVeer Guidroz are Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 2:00 pm, at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, with burial at Forest Hills Cemetery.
Mrs. Guidroz, died on Sunday, October 21, 2018. She was born in Huntsville, AL on October 7, 1960, to Juanita “Joy” VanDeVeer and spent most of her life in Baton Rouge, LA.
Carol was a graduate of Istrouma High School, Southwest Mississippi Community College, and also attended the Culinary Arts Institute of Louisiana.
Since moving to Little Rock in 1997, she has been a self-proclaimed lady of leisure. Before then, she was a cosmetologist, cosmetology teacher, director of a school of beauty, and author of the textbook Beautiful Business. When her mother was diagnosed with diabetes, Carol’s creative and entrepreneurial spirits flourished when she and her husband Jim created “My Own Chef,” a flavorful, health-conscious meal delivery company.
Mrs. Guidroz is remembered with admiration by everyone she met for having an irrepressibly positive attitude in spite of tremendous challenges. She loved jokes, old movies, and all things chocolate. A lifelong educator, Carol taught aerobics, Bible studies, and was a mentor for people recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and sister, Karen Ann VanDeVeer. Survivors are her husband, James “Jim” Edward Guidroz; children, Benjamen Douglas, Alyson Douglas and her husband Horace Carl Pouncey; grandchildren, Jackson Taylor Hinckle, Brennan Jacob Hinckle, and Roman Eli Hinckle; brother, Gregg Lee Van DeVeer and his wife Yong Ae “Sunny” Van DeVeer; and beloved parents in-law, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
