GLENDA WILKES CLAY, 93, of Little Rock, Ark., died Nov. 3. 2018. She was born on Nov. 21, 1924, in Tibbie, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Benjamin Dollar Clay; her parents, Archie Devaul Wilkes and Ethel Deloris Daugherty Wilkes; two sisters: Elsie Deloris Wilkes MacClay and Amy Elinor Wilkes Lowery; and one granddaughter Corrie Catherine Clay.
She is survived by her brother, James Berkley Wilkes (Glenda) of Mobile, Ala.; sons Stephens Devaul (Kathleen) of Florence, Miss., and Gregory Wilkes (Karen) of Little Rock; two grandchildren: Sarah Clay (Adrian Hester) of Ridgeland, Miss., and Bradley Wilkes Clay (Mary) of Conway, Ark.; three great-grandchildren: Fiona Kathleen Clay-Hester, Carter Wilkes Clay, and Liadan Rowan Clay-Hester.
She was employed as a legal secretary, payroll officer and library clerk. She loved her work and her proficiency in shorthand was second to none. She retired from the Little Rock School District in 1987 and was a member of the Little Rock Retired Teachers Assn.
She was a long time member of Geyer Springs Methodist Church. She loved her retirement very much, traveling the country with Ben; fishing, camping, laughing and most of all, time with her family. Family reunions were where she had the most fun.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 10:00 a.m.in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock (501) 661-9111.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Forest Hills Cemetery at 10200 Highway 5 North, Alexander, Ark.
The family would like to extend thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Arkansas Heart Hospital.
