

James Thomas McClain, Jr. 64, born August 7, 1953, passed from this life December 5, 2017. He was born in Helena, Arkansas to the late James T. McClain, Sr. and Betty Ann O’Neal McClain. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet Bowling McClain of Little Rock; his daughter, Melissa Goins and husband Jase; two grandsons, Ian Jacob Goins; John Patrick Goins of Sheridan; and a sister, Ann McClainCarter and husband Ray of Benton; and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by brothers, Bruce (Brenda) McClain and Steve (Mary) McClain of Vilonia, Arkansas. At the age of 14, he started working at his parents service station located in down town Little Rock. After a brief stint in the Army (he enlisted at the age of 17) he surrendered to preach as a Baptist Minister. He and his wife Janet met in church and after their marriage; they were youth pastors several years. After learning to play guitar, they started a bluegrass and gospel band and toured Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri for over ten years, playing churches, festivals and benefit concerts. All these things were done while he worked for 23 years with the 3M Company of Little Rock. After leaving 3M Company, he worked for Loomis Armored Services as an Armored Truck Driver for 14 years. He loved his God, family, country, and his work. He will be greatly missed. A service celebrating James’ life will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017, at 1:30pm, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth. The family invites all to attend a visitation at the home after the service, 2901 Bermuda Lane in Little Rock. Lunch will be provided.
