John Bernard Sweeney, 91, of Little Rock, began everlasting life and was reunited with his cherished wife, Beverly on June 9, 2021. Beloved father of ten children, he loved his family dearly. John displayed his Catholic faith in action and lived an unselfish life. He cared for society’s overlooked and vulnerable, touching countless lives through his involvement with the Daily Worldmissionnaires and Kairos prison ministry.
John was also called to be a part of the Cursillo Ministry through the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly and his son, Jim. He is survived by his children, John, Paul, Tim, Mary, Patrick, Kevin, Karen, Bob and Sharon. Grandchildren, Sean, Paul, Eric, Joseph, Jennette, Stephanie, Jonathan, Christopher, Ashley, Anastasia, Johnathan, Anthony, Zac, Madeline, Michelle, Trevor, Michael and Jonah; along with 19 great-grandchildren, and a multitude of relatives and friends who will prevent John’s stories from becoming silent.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 1:00 p.m.at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, under the direction of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth. A Rosary will be at 7:30pm. Friday, June 25, 2021. With the visitation from 6-7:30pm.
The family requests that in lieu of customary remembrances, please donate to organizations helping those who society neglects.
