Kyle William Speed

Kyle William Speed died on June 23, 2021, after blessing his friends, family, and the world with his graceful charm for 37 years. Born May 7, 1984, Kyle lived his youth in Heber Springs, Ark., excelling in baseball and basketball. A graduate of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Kyle settled in Little Rock and worked as a successful accountant until he passed.

Kyle was constantly lucky, patient, and looking in places no one else wanted to look, often seeing things no one else took the time to see. You can bet he would find $20 in a gas-station parking lot because he was never in a hurry and always looking down. He loved music, especially blues and the Beatles. Kyle looked at numbers like music and musical notes like numbers. He could think in ways that others didn’t and was a still water that ran incredibly deep. If you knew Kyle, you knew that he was a lover, not a fighter. He was laid back, gentle, and an extremely caring individual who brought laughter to every person he ever met.

Kyle loved sports (especially the Arkansas Razorbacks), hunting, and the outdoors; his family and many friends; and, most of all, he loved his son, Landon.

Kyle leaves behind his mother, Pamela Speed; father, John Albert Speed; sister, Rebecca Goss Speed-Dwyer; brother-in-law, Bobby Dwyer; nephew, Cole Patton Dwyer, with whom he had a special bond and shared a love of bad fajitas; and twin nephew and niece, Robert Emmett Dwyer and Brett Ashlynn Dwyer, who were a constant source of humor and joy for Kyle; aunt, Leigh Ann Long-Burns; Uncle Randy Long; cousins, Dillon and Hailey Jacobs.

His longtime best friend Daniel Hargrove was a brother to him. Kyle also leaves behind his college sweetheart, Elizabeth Speed; two nieces Kaitlyn Kennedy and Addisyn Kennedy; and most importantly, his beloved son Landon Carter Speed.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Boyce Amos Long, and favorite uncle, “Home Skillet” Robert Spencer Long, who we hope met him in the next life with open arms and perhaps a blues album and hunting rifle.
