

Monsignor Thomas Joseph Sebaugh, 87, of Little Rock, died at Good Shepard Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Little Rock on Thursday evening, September 22, 2016. He was born in Camden, Arkansas on August 3, 1929. He attended St. John Home Mission Seminary in Little Rock and was ordained to the sacred priesthood by Bishop Albert L. Fletcher on May 7, 1959. He was assigned as Associate Pastor at St. Edward in Texarkana, St. John’s in Hot Springs, St. Michael in West Memphis and Immaculate Conception in North Little Rock. In 1974 he became the Pastor of St. Peter in Wynne, followed by assignments at St. John in Russellville, St. Augustine in Dardanelle, St. Mary in McGehee, Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary in Dermott, Holy Child in Dumas, St. Patrick in North Little Rock, St. Mary in North Little Rock and St. Augustine in North Little Rock. Monsignor entered into service at the Chancery offices utilizing his computer skills and brilliant intellect and brought the diocese into the 20th Century technologically. He was the “go to man” for most of the parishes in the diocese that had PDS (Parish Data System), always willing to travel to parishes to assist in setting the program up. He was a kind and gentle priest and never forgot that Christ was centered in his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edmund and Mary Alma Sebaugh; brothers, Robert Sebaugh and Charles Sebaugh; sisters, Mary Ann Savary and Joan Atkinson. Monsignor Sebaugh is survived by his sisters, Rita Barthol of Little Rock and Ruth Moix of Hot Springs; sister-in-law, Betty Sebaugh of Camden; brother-in-law, Jack Savary of Little Rock; nieces, Kathy Davidson, Linda Edwards (Bo), Patricia Savary, Janie Hart (Jason), Rachel Blankenship (Beau), Judy Bowers (Jeffery), Suzy Barthol, and Betsy Barthol all of Little Rock; Donna Mathews (Rick) of Conway; Rosemarie Barker (Terry) of Hot Springs; Teresa Strong (Jeff) of Hartland, MI; Carolyn Westbrook of Victoria, TX; Jo Harmon of Mont Belvieu, TX; Patricia Sebaugh (Jeff Smith) of Richmond, TX; nephews, John Barthol (Cindy) and Eddie Barthol of Little Rock; Greg Atkinson (Haley) of Conway; Joe Moix (Lisa) of Hot Springs; Chris Moix of New Orleans, LA; Bobby Sebaugh (Lisa) of Livingston, TX; Tom Sebaugh and Andy Sebaugh (Patti) of Sargents, TX; and numerous great nieces and nephews, relatives, friends, and his dear friend and caregiver, Barbara Riegler. A rosary will be prayed at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Church on Monday, September 26th at 6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at Holy Souls on Tuesday, September 27th at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at “Priests’ Circle” at Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock immediately following the Funeral Mass. A luncheon will be provided by Holy Souls after the burial.
