Rayburn "Wayne" Dewayne Burris Jr. passed on April 14, 2026, at the age of 68. He was born on September 11, 1957, in Little Rock, AR to the late Rayburn Dewayne and Mary Lousie (Osborn) Burris. In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his brother, Gary Lee Burris and aunt, Sarah Finch. Wayne's life reflected the dignity of hard work, the value of loyalty, and a thoughtful presence that made people feel seen and supported.
Wayne was very close with his brothers in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW 295), a bond rooted in shared purpose and mutual respect. Those who knew him understood that he carried himself with a grounded wisdom; practical, measured, and dependable, offering counsel when it was needed and standing firmly with the people he cared about.
Outside of work, Wayne found joy in the hum of engines and the freedom of the open road and water. He enjoyed motorcycles, minibikes, and boats, and at times even a unicycle, which he rode so skillfully he could make it from Kanis to Rodney Parham. He loved working on cars, especially his 40 Ford Cherry Red Coupe and his ’69 Ford Torino, taking pride in the details and the satisfaction of doing things the right way. He also enjoyed talking about and participating in the stock market, in which he did quite well; approaching it with the same patience, discipline, and clear-eyed sense that marked so much of his life.
Those left to cherish Wayne's memory include his beloved wife, Diane Burris; sister, Carol Beth (Myron) Williams; stepchildren, Brandy (Justin) Powell and Shea (Rachel) Decker; 5 grandchildren; as well as many other beloved family members and friends.
A Memorial Gathering for Wayne will be held at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W 12TH ST, LITTLE ROCK, AR 72204, US, on April 17, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
