Robert J. Forrest passed away on March 9,2026 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. He was born in Little Rock on November 16, 1948 to Brooks J. and Dorothy Rather Forrest and spent much of his early years as an “Army brat” experiencing life across the world, always returning to Little Rock as his home base where extended family resided. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, Robert Shelton and Ellen Rather and J.C. and Viva Forrest. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Helen Forrest, his son , Robert J. Forrest, Jr. ,daughter in law Marieliz Forrest, sister, Deborah Forrest and a special friend, Zilpha Wilson.
Robert was an Independent Manufacturer’s Representative in the furniture industry for more than 30 years, a member of the Arkansas Furniture Association and maintained many friends in the industry years after retirement.
He was a long time member of Oak Forest United Methodist Church, serving many years on the Board of Trustees, where he used his gifts and talents to help maintain the church and parsonages. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Albert Pike Lodge and The Scottish Rite.
Robert was a true “people person” and he never met a stranger. He had a servant’s heart for those in need, and often offered a “hand up” when others passed them by. Robert viewed his most important roles as husband, father, brother and friend, and in those, he always excelled. He loved his family and friends unconditionally, and in spite of numerous health challenges, remained positive and hopeful to the end. He fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to UAMS and DCI Dialysis Unit for their many years of care to Robert and during his last weeks, to Cornerstone, CHI Encompass Rehabilitation, Cavalier Healthcare and Presbyterian Village.
