Sunday, January 23, 2022. Born to Benjamin and Phyllis Watson at Point DeLuce on October
19, 1925.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 45 years, James “Woody”
Hagerty, all her brothers and sisters, and her sons Benjamin, Ronald and Terry.
As a young wife and mother, she started her career at Sears Roebuck as Christmas help in
catalog sales in order to earn “Santa money.” As her children left home, she moved into a full
time position at Sears in catalog sales even into the computer age. She retired in 1988.
Ruth was a member of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church since moving to Little Rock in 1965. She
loved her church and church family and served tirelessly in the church and day school. One of
her favorite jobs was serving Wednesday night dinners and first Sunday lunches. She served as
a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and served as President of the Baptist Women. She
loved to travel with the Young at Heart from church and members of her family. She found joy
and pleasure gardening and cooking, especially at Christmas where she shared her fudge,
peanut brittle, and baked goods with friends and family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Ruth (Jim) Harvey, Mike (Kim) Hagerty, Tony (Tracy)
Hagerty, grandchildren David Hagerty, son of Terry, Kathleen (David) Anderson, Mike (Karen)
Ghidotti, Laren Harvey, Tiffany DeMarco, Elizabeth (Rob) Soger, Taylor Hagerty, Ethan Clark,
Jeffrey Clark, James Clark, Jay Murphy, Tyler Hagerty, Bailey Hagerty and Sydney (Jason)
Dickerson, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren,
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
