Born December 16, 1949 to Carolyn Campbell Coyne Cumnock in Little Rock, Arkansas, Stephen Louis Cumnock was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother, and stepfather, Charlie “Papa” Rabon whom he considered as mentor and friend. He attended Catholic schools, graduated and went on to obtain degrees that he utilized while working for many years with individuals with disabilities, mostly blind or deaf. He was a staunch supporter for his clients and encouraged them to reach their full potential and exceed others’ expectations. He was active in the Catholic church and held many different positions. He enjoyed photography, loved to travel and would attend services in the country where he was at the time.
He frequented many restaurants and would look for those that seemed they could use a "lift" and anonymously paid for their meals. To honor his mother, he took single mothers and let them shop for Christmas telling them someone else was paying.
He had a special appreciation for the individuals that added great joy to his life. He always tried to let them know that and how thankful he was for their encouragement and love even in his darkest hours. He was never too busy that he could not enjoy the company of a friend, a great wine or a good cigar, and often said, "a stranger is a friend you met for the first time". If you wish to honor Stephen, take a homeless person to lunch or donate to your favorite charity.
