
Anne S. Fogelson was born in Brooklyn, NY, moved to Hicksville NY and attended kindergarten there. She was raised in Dover, NJ where she went to Academy Street School and Dover High School.
Anne married Raymond S. Fogelson on December 11, 1955. They first lived in Newark, then Rockaway Township, and in 1961 moved to Fairfield NJ where they raised their three children.
Anne received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education from William Paterson University, in Wayne NJ, and was a first grade school teacher for 27 years with the Montville Township Public Schools, retiring in 1997. She received the Governor’s Teacher Recognition Award twice, in 1975 and 1990, and received two mini-grants from Jersey Central Lighting.
Anne was an attentive wife and proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She always enjoyed traveling to other countries, going to Atlantic City, and was a great Yankee fan. She played Mah Jongg every week, and played bridge, dominoes and other games. Since early childhood, she collected picture postcards, and later started to collect mugs and dolls of places where she and her husband visited.
She was a lifelong member of the MCREA (Morris County Retired Educators Association), NEA (National Education Association) and NJEA (NJ Education Association), and belonged to the College Club of Dover. She was a long-time member of Congregation Agudath Israel of Caldwell. Although confirmed at the Dover Jewish Center in Dover NJ at the age of 13, Anne became a Bat Mitzvah in 1996 at Congregation Agudath Israel.
Anne is survived by her beloved husband, Raymond, and their devoted three children and their spouses, Michele Fogelson Barabash and her husband William; Robert J Fogelson and his wife Jean; and Elizabeth Fogelson Cooperhouse and her husband Louis. Anne is also survived by her five wonderful grandchildren: Rachel Barabash, Daniel Barabash, Michael Cooperhouse, Jeffrey Cooperhouse, and Gregory Fogelson – and her great grand-daughter Sara Cooperhouse.
Services will be held promptly at 11am on Tuesday, December 27, at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel at 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ.
