

Charles Kramer WWII veteran, had long, successful career in N.J. real estate, Cranford resident Charles Kramer, 95, resident of Cranford, N.J., president of Brounell & Kramer Realtors in Union, N.J., died on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016. Funeral service is Sunday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. in the Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Rd., Livingston with interment in Mount Lebanon Cemetery.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Charles graduated in 1938 from Thomas Jefferson High School and was a member of the Brownsville Boys Club. Charles was a Technician 5th Grade MP in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he graduated with an accounting degree from Pace University, N.Y., having attended under the G.I. Bill. Charles married the late Irene Aronowitz in 1948, and began his career in real estate working for the Boyle Agency in Elizabeth, N.J. He and Lewis Brounell began a long partnership as Brounell & Kramer in 1952. They soon expanded with Jerome Waldor into a reputable full service real estate and insurance firm. Through their hard work and their loyal salespeople and employees, Brounell & Kramer became a dominant real estate firm, selling thousands of homes throughout New Jersey. Charles, Lew, and Jerry also developed commercial and investment properties. Charles also managed a significant portfolio of apartment properties. He was president of Eastern Union County Board of Realtors in 1962; president of the North Jersey Society of Real Estate Appraisers Chapter 37 1967-68; president of the N.J. Chapter 1 Institute of Real Estate Management in 1971, and an accredited member of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers. Charles and Irene loved family, traveling, dancing, attending theatre and concerts, and summers at Long Beach Island. They were long time members of Temple Beth El Mekor Chayim in Cranford. Charles is survived by his children, Sybil Kramer, Laura Kramer and wife, Deborrah, Mitchell Kramer and wife, Aimee, and grandchildren, Amanda, Benjamin, Daniel, and Caroline.
