Born in Newark New Jersey, he was a graduate of Weequahic High School, Rutgers University and Columbia University Graduate School of Business. His career in the automotive industry began in 1957 and spanned 64 years beginning with Newark Buick on Broad Street. His entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen allowed him to acquire and expand into multiple franchises including Mercedes Benz of Morristown, Crestmont Toyota Volkswagen and Crestmont Cadillac (Cleveland, Ohio). In addition, his various business ventures included multiple real estate holdings, as well as several luxury watch distributorships. His philanthropic endeavors were varied and wide spread. He served on the Board of Directors of both Daughters of Israel, West Orange and Beth Israel Hospital, Newark, and was also a lifelong supporter of UJA, Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills and Saint Barnabas Hospital, Livingston.
Beloved Husband of 57 years to the late Gayle K.Peyton. Father of Randi Strauss (Bill), Jill Levy (Barry Troy), Lisa Braunstein (Scott). Grandfather of Jamie (Jason), Ryan, Jordan, David and Adam. Great Grandfather of Mason and Sienna.
A private graveside service was held on April 21, 2021.
