Doris Chodorcoff, a lifelong resident of Essex County, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 6, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on October 7, 1945, she lived a life filled with love and dedication to her family and community.
Doris was a graduate of Millburn High School and furthered her education by attending Cedar Crest College. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Upsala College.
An animal lover, she dedicated part of her life to working as a Docent for Turtle Back Zoo, where she shared her passion for animals with visitors.
She was a loving mother to Billy Chodorcoff and his wife Leslie, and to Brian Chodorcoff. Doris was a devoted grandmother to Katie and Sarah, and a cherished sister to Linda Pelzman and her husband Henry. She is also survived by her beloved granddog, Chuck.
Donations in her memory may be made to Turtle Back Zoo or Breakthrough T1D (formerly The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
Doris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
