

surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, March 16, 2025, after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage the day before.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Elaine joyfully embraced every aspect of life daily. After retiring from a career in school counseling where she helped thousands of children and families, she continued her joy of lifelong learning. Elaine was both an observer and art maker, painting, drawing and writing poetry. She was especially devoted to the Congregation Ohr Shalom/Summit JCC and FDU FILL (Florham Institute for Lifetime Learning).
Elaine received her undergraduate degree from SUNY Cortland and her master’s degree from Kean University. She is survived by her beloved husband, Neil Ullman, children Jessica Hoffman (Edward Miller) and Gabrielle Hoffman, and sister Barbara Katz. She was an adored Mimi by her grandchildren, Anabelle, Dina, and Noa Miller, and her nephews Danny (Ariel), Ben, and Jake (Emily Lawson) Fleischman. She is further survived by Neil’s children Jonathan Ullman (Joanne) and Jay Ullman, and Jonathan and Joanne’s children Aaron, Sage and Mali. Those who predeceased her include her beloved first husband, Barry M. Hoffman, parents Paul and Rochelle Katz, and brother-in-law Stephen Fleischman.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 18 at 12 noon at Summit Jewish Community Center, 67 Kent Place Boulevard, Summit, New Jersey. Burial will follow immediately after at Beth David Cemetery, Kenilworth, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Congregation Ohr Shalom Summit/Summit Jewish Community Center, the Newark Museum of Art, or the New Jersey Symphony, all of which she and Neil enjoyed tremendously.
