Livingston, NJ, We mourn the loss of Elliot Victor Anelle Jr. 68. He passed away on August 30, 2024 and is survived by his mother Christine and sister Barbara. Elliot was predeceased by his father Elliot Victor Anelle, Sr. He was a man who taught us all valuable humbling life lessons. Despite his disabilities, Elliot lived a full, blessed, and happy life.
Elliot refused to let his differences hinder him. As a teenager, he embarked on several tours to places such as Italy, Paris, and London. He graduated from West Essex High School and earned a degree from the Manhattan School of Printing, and attended the Ducret School of Arts.
As a paraprofessional for Jersey City schools, Elliot dedicated 20 years to working with students on the spectrum and recently retired. He proudly lived independently for over two decades and cherished his cats, Footsie and Henry.
Elliot generously volunteered with the LACD, the Livingston Advisory Committee for Disabilities. His volunteer work included helping children at Camp Hope, assisting in after-school programs and being a part of their holiday functions for special needs families. Most recently, his artistic talents flourished at the Wellness , Arts & Enrichment Center (WAE ) as he enjoyed knitting, crocheting, looming, needlepoint, painting, and sewing.
As an inspirational speaker, Elliot delivered over 25 speeches with his best friend Richie Redfern, at New Jersey City University, William Paterson College, Montclair University, and other special Autism venues. His presentations shed light on growing up in the 1970s, overcoming many challenges. His presentations gave people insight to accept and understand this lifetime disability, Autism-Aspergers.
In the final days of Elliot’s life, he was surrounded by love and support. His charm was reminiscent of his father, touching the hearts of all who cared for him.
Elliot accomplished so much in life. Though different, his heart overflowed with love, and everyone who met him recognized his truly special soul. We will miss him dearly.
