Born in Newark, New Jersey, to Benjamin and Margaret Lynn, Esther grew up in South Orange, where she resided for 81 years in the same house. She was a 1960 graduate of Columbia High School in Maplewood and attended the University of Miami and Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Esther enjoyed being a real estate agent for over forty years for Weichert Realtors and later Keller Williams Realty, among other brokerages. Among her favorite activities were watching her grandchildren, spending time with family, gardening, cooking and baking, walking and playing with her dogs, and watching the NY Giants. She loved cooking big holiday meals for her family, who especially looked forward to eating her matzo ball soup, pigs in a blanket, lasagna, and many desserts. Every summer she baked a variety of sweets using the hundreds of blueberries she harvested from her garden. She was the stereotypical Jewish mother/grandmother where food was concerned and always cooked enough food to feed an army.
She was a past member of Congregation Oheb Shalom in South Orange.
Esther was the beloved wife of Robert for 60 years before his passing in 2024. She is survived by her three devoted children, Bruce (Nancy Bernhaut), Mark (Dana), and Lisa (Robert Infantes), four loving grandchildren, Brandon Infantes (Amber), Nicole Infantes, Joshua Scott, and Amanda Scott, and great granddaughter, Nicolette Infantes. She was predeceased by her brother, Arnold Lynn.
A Graveside Service will be held at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 189 Gill Lane, Woodbridge Township, New Jersey 08830, on April 12, 2026, at 1:30 pm.
To honor her lifelong love of dogs, donations may be made in Esther’s memory to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, New Jersey.
