She was a devoted wife to her husband Murray who predeceased her in 2016–they were inseparable–and a dedicated mother to her two children. Together Harriet and Murray were among the founding members of Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston, NJ. She was also a founding member of REGM, an organization established to raise funds to distribute to qualified doctors pursuing a cure for cancer. She was President of REGM for two terms. She also was a member of TBS Sisterhood and Hadassah.
Harriet was a professional seamstress, operating her own alterations business for almost five years beginning in the late 1960s, after which she did office work. When she retired, Murray encouraged her to return to her passion for painting, and she produced many beautiful works, winning honors in juried exhibitions. She also became active in the Women’s Auxiliary to the Marine Corps League in support of Murray’s involvement in several veterans organizations, himself a Marine Corps veteran of WWII. She and Murray spent summers at their home on LBI for almost forty years, and she continued to spend summers there even after she lost her beloved Murray.
She is survived by her children Charles and Robin (Ken); grandchildren Marci and Colin; and great-grandchildren Hunter and Mira. She was predeceased by her husband Murray; her parents Morris and Cecil Weiner, and her brother Harris Weiner.
