Herb was born to Ray and Sidney Gordon on September 9th, 1936 in Newark. Herb is survived by his wife, Susan; his daughters, Ilene and Cindy; their husbands, Andy and Keith; two grandchildren, Hannah and Kevin; and Herb’s two brothers, Alan and Michael Gordon. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
Herb went to Weequahic High School and Cornell and Temple Universities, after which he spent some time in the air force before attending orthodontic school at Columbia University. He opened his orthodontic practice in Caldwell in 1965 and a second office later in Parsippany. During his many years in practice, Herb was always ready with a warm smile for his patients and took great pride in helping them reveal their best smiles.
Herb was a life-long learner and loved art – after retiring, he spent many years as a docent at the Montclair Art Museum. Mostly, Herb loved doing things with Susan—travelling, going to New York City, and having parties. He also treasured the time he spent with his grandkids.
