Dr. Herman M Robinson, 79, of Livingston, NJ, died July 8, 2013, of complications from lung cancer. A funeral service will be held at 11am, Friday, July 12 at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman, 68 Old Short Hills Rd, Livingston; burial to follow at Beth El Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus. Robby was born December 18, 1933 in Brooklyn. In 1957 he earned his B.S. from Brooklyn College. The following year he married Hope Naumann and enrolled in medical school. He spent the rest of his life as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and an esteemed radiologist. From his cum laude graduation from SUNY Downstate, to residency at Montefiore Hospital, to staff positions at hospitals in NY and NJ, to leading his own practice, his career was marked by exceptional skill, unwavering integrity, and unfailing warmth. Respected and admired by colleagues – president of several medical societies and fellow of the American College of Radiology – he was beloved by staff and patients. But Robby was a renaissance man. Overcoming disability from polio, he became a swimmer, tennis player, skier, and golfer. He was also an amateur photographer, and a lover of theater, opera, sports, nature, and books. He is survived by 3 remaining siblings, his mother-in-law Sally, his children Lori, David, and Mitchell, his 7 grandchildren, and his wife of 55 years, Hope. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America.
