Since fourth grade we have been friends, confidants and shared times together with Mama Tillie, kitchen talks and cookies. Oh my friend, part of my life has ended too. September: It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of VEAP’s own Jeff Moritz, in August from COVID. 
As a valued member of this Salvation Army’s veterans Steering Committee, Jeff worked with VEAP since  the beginning of the program, Jeff provided direction , time, talent and treasures to the Veterans Expo each year, and was a faithful and dependable member of the group of dedicated individuals who have made VEAP go for more than 11 years in The Coachella Valley, of Southern California.  
An organizational development and management professional, Jeff’s experience included companies in real estate development, construction, information systems, and health care that were: privately owned and publicly traded; domestic and international; charitable and profit motivated. His focus was the creation and implementation of new opportunities, the expansion of existing businesses, financial and corporate restructuring, and financial reporting and controls. Above all, Jeff believed in giving back.
As a construction team leader, the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of the Coachella Valley, and President/Founder of The Desert Communities Fuller Center for Housing, Jeff was responsible for the construction of more than 35 affordable houses. Jeff was a proud veteran US Army NCO, who served during the Viet Nam conflict and, through his 30 year dedication to Rotary International, was instrumental in the creation of the USO facility at Palm Springs International Airport.
Jeff moved to Tennessee in 2019 to help take care of his brother and to be with his immediate family.  
He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to work with him and share this experience.


I am so very sorry to hear that Jeff has passed away. Our families were very close during our formative years. Jeff even gave me a “pep talk” before I started college, as to what to expect . We also attended summer camp together. He was 4 years older than me , and I looked up to him. Our sincere condolences from the Krueger family .
