Whenever I drive on Wood Avenue, I think of Lenny. Such a great, kind, interesting man.

My mind and heart are so disturbed at hearing about Leonard’s passing. I thought about my role in writing to you. I am a first cousin. But the person writing this letter is someone who has experienced loss. Loss is unfathomable. The first time in my life I lost someone, I think I learned the true meaning of the word “never.” Until then I lived with a false sense of immortality and safety. I cannot even imagine the strife and grief you’re experiencing. You wake up one morning and the day begins with the usual routines and expected stresses. We go about our lives feeling confident. There are two processes you are experiencing. First is the shock and mourning. You are dealing with the vulnerable feelings that arise when a secure and safe world is wounded by such a terrible event. Mourning is a process. It will last perhaps a year and time will pass and the initial shock will begin to heal and fade. The second process is grief. That is life-long. That remains every waking hour. I lost my mother 58 years ago and there isn’t a day that I don’t remember that she was only 45 years old and had hardly lived a life. But a person expects that one day they will lose a parent. Your grief cannot be quelled. A kind man who you have seen through milestones is lost. He leaves a wife and children. He leaves a sister and brother-in-law. He leaves nieces and nephews and grandchildren. He leaves a gap in your lives that you may never understand. You have sadly experienced something that is so hard to accept. As a cousin, I am praying for a way to let you know that I’m trying to be cognitive of what you are feeling.  Love. Laurel

Dear Bobbie and family and Susie and family - we were so sad to hear about Lenny.  May his memory be a blessing to everyone who knew him. 
A little story about Lenny…I was the youngest cousin of many in the Sevack family.  During my elementary and junior high summers, I worked in my Dad’s law office on St. George Ave, down the street from Leonard Jewelers.  Part of my summer adventures included having lunch with my dad at the sub shop and walking to the jewelry store where Aunt Pauline showed me her latest collection of estate sale jewelry and where Lenny let me pick out the letters for his current engraving project.  I thought I was a pretty cool kid walking in to the store and behind the counter to the office in the back.   
When my Dad died and we had to make arrangements in NJ from Atlanta,  Lenny mad a point of telling me I did a good job.  That meant so much to me because I know Lenny and my Dad were very close.  I knew if Lenny thought I did a good job, then I did right by my Dad. 
We are sending strength and love.

My condolences to the family during this difficult time. Leonard was always a very gentle and kind person. He always took at least a moment to make sure that everything was ok. I will miss seeing him and talking with him.

My condolences to the family.  
Leonard was a classmate - in public school and Hebrew school.  Grwing up together, I remember his parents and family as well.  
Leonard was a good and kind man.  Family and business were important to him, and he still found time to be an active and generous  member of the shul.  Everytime I came to shul, Leonard was there with a smile  to greet me.  I will miss him.

My deepest condolences to the family on the passing of this kind man. Len was truly a wonderful  person.  Dealt with him many times at his business. Helpful, fair businessman.  Rest in peace my friend.

Leonard was a friend from high school. I remember him very fondly. He started at Northeastern where I went to school and was also in accounting major when he was a good friend. Sold me many pieces of jewelry over the years from his store that was named after him over the years we lost touch, but I still remember him with a great deal of fondness. I also remember his father and grandfather from Mona has said who were also good friends of mine as well. Rest in peace.
