

Martin S. Knecht Service is tomorrow for husband, father and jazz fan It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Martin S. Knecht of Rockaway, N.J., who lost his battle with Alzheimer's on Oct. 10, 2017. He died peacefully.
Born in 1943 in the Bronx, Marty was predeceased by his parents, David and Martha. He leaves behind his wife, Gale; his daughters, Shari and Dina; his sons-in-law, Gene and Michael; his grandchildren, Sara, Brina, Guido, and Jalina, and his sister, Karen.
Marty's favorite pastime was attending the New Orleans Jazz Festival with his friends. His love for music extended to performance and the marching arts. He took great pleasure in watching his children and grandchildren perform. Before his retirement, Marty managed the tax department at a small, accounting firm specializing in the entertainment industry.
There will be a brief service to celebrate Marty's life at Bernheim-Apter- Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, N.J., on Friday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. The family will be sitting Shiva and receiving guests on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 16, from 3:30 to 8 p.m. at 22 Arlington Avenue, Mt. Arlington, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Alzheimer's Association and/or Compassionate Care Hospice.
