Born in Berlin, Germany, he emigrated to New York in 1938 and lived in Queens, NY until 1961. He served in the US Army as a medic from 1943 to 1945. In 1956, he started the Langendorff Corporation, an offset printing business in New York City. He married Gerda (nee Freundlich) in 1957 and raised three children, The family moved to West Orange in 1961. He was a member of Congregation Oheb Shalom for 55 Years.
Michael was celebrated for achieving his life-long wish of donating 40 pints (5 gallons) of blood to the American Red Cross Blood Bank
Forced to retire because of a stroke in 1989, he started volunteering at St.Barnabas Hospital in Livingston.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gerda; one daughter, Karen (Jonathan Goldstick) of New York City, two sons, Jeffrey (Debbie) of East Rockaway, NY, and Frank (Jane) of Short Hills, NJ, and 6 grandchildren; Alex and Evan Goldstick, Zachary and Margot Langendorff, and Marc and Ally Langendorff.
