We are so sad to learn that Robert passed away. 
He was a great person; we had the privilege to know him and considered Robert not only the best attorneys to handle negotiations in our businesses  but  also an amazing friend over the years.  It was always a pleasure to talk to him.
I am having trouble writing because it’s so hard to believe that he’s no longer with us. 

We send our  and sincere prayers and condolences to his family and we will always remember his wit, kindness, generous heart!

Just heard about Robert's passing, My sincere condolences to his family and friends. I will always remember getting together at Steve Polatnik's place with Ian Weinstein and Robert for a full day of Scrabble games. He was a great player but more importantly he was a great guy - a mensch.  May God comfort you among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem. BDM.

Dear Robert,
It is so hard to write this because in my mind you will always be a part of our Scrabble club.  When I go there on Wednesday nights, I still feel your presence and expect you to come walking in at any second.  You have always been one of my favorite players there since you became a club member in 1992.  Your warmth, wonderful wit, intelligence and thoughtfulness were always admired and appreciated.  Your thoughtfulness also extended to writing a "thank you" note to me after our yearly Awards nights to tell me how much you enjoyed it and recognized all the work that went into it!  That was just one of your many thoughtful actions.  I'm sure that your record of having the highest game at our club since its existence will continue to be upheld forever!  So thankful that the last game you played at our club was with me...even though you won!!!  Rest in peace, my friend.

My most recent  memory of Robert is from several years ago (in Buffalo, I think). He   was always engaging, personable, with just the right timing for offering a sardonic yet gentle witticism.  It was a pleasure to have known him for many years within the Scrabble community.  He will be missed.

I will always remember Robert  from the scrabble club and the several games we played over the years.   though Robert was a far superior player than myself....I remember the Ist game we ever played at the 1985 North American  pre qualifying games..we had a tie game

Also I remember our little frustrations  and talks about the Florida /Miami Marlins

Robert was a  "class act" and a friend to all.

Dear Andrea and Family........please know Philip and I are sending prayers of love to you during this great loss.  RIP Robert 

Had some excellent anagrams games with you and Ian Weinstein and also departed Steve Polatnick.  Always will remember your sharp wit.  Florida, and the rest of the world, desperately needs more like you, not fewer.

My dear Kahn .... It was only a couple of weeks ago that I was recounting our Melbourne tournament end game to some new clubmates - the one from a mere 14 years ago.  You told me about a long-ago opponent having taleysim on their rack and not being sure it was a word.  And I looked down at my rack and saw taleysim played for a LOT of points - more so than my find of steamily elsewhere.  And we began to laugh.  Hysterically.  For 15 minutes.  And could not look at each other for the remainder of the weekend!  You were one of my very favorite wags and I shall miss you as long as I am capable of missing.  Rest in peace, dear friend.

Robert, I loved your biting wit, your self-effacing humor, your competitive spirit, the love and pride of your family, your beard and deep dark eyes that might initially seem foreboding to a stranger, but were really simply the outside of a teddy bear on the inside. When there were National Scrabble Championships that we both attended, I was honored to be able to "snag you to myself" over dinner or lunch. I recall (c. August, 1988 Reno, NV), your telling me you did legal work for a client in Florida with the same last name as mine, not an uncommon name. You told me his first name, and I flippantly said, "Sure, he's my cousin" (not really thinking he was), and then I said his mother's name (presumably my aunt.) Incredibly it was the same person! :) The following month, you and I met with Scrabble inventor Alfred Butts at (then Scrabble trademark owner) Coleco headquarters in Manhattan, as you and I were on the first Scrabble Advisory Board to advise "the suits" on new directions for the game about which we shared our passions. You provided many hundreds of hours of your formidable legal expertise for both National Scrabble Association and its successor, the North American Scrabble Players Association. There are some people who, when you think about them, a smile automatically comes to mind and heart. You, my dear friend, have been and remain such a soul. Robert, our journeys on this orb are all mere tiny drops of time in the long expanse of history.  You, my dear friend, have made my journey richer because of yours. And I remain grateful for that. Thank you. And save a game for me.

Between October 13, 2016 and April 21, 2018 I played 21 after-hours Scrabble games with my friend and tenant, Robert Kahn  (we'd always wait for everyone to leave so no one would know we were goofing off). I won two games and he won the rest.  Keeping these statistics was my idea initially but once I started he'd never let me miss an entry.  And he'd start each session with a request to review the stats to that point.  I've been waiting for another chance all these months, so I am happy I still have the score sheets.  Robert, we will miss having you in our office. We all had lots of fun during the day.  And I miss having a colleague a few steps away.

Thank you for being such an amazing friend through the years.  You’ve been a part of our family for as long as I can remember (early 80’s). You were there for my dad and after he passed I am so thankful we never lost contact.  Believe it or not you took over the role of a father figure in my life and I couldn’t have asked for anyone better. I’ll miss our phone and texting chats and our lunches that we had from time to time. I’ll miss the stories we would tell each other of things from the past.. I could go on and on but most of all, I’ll miss you.  May you Rest In Peace and  when you re-connect with my parents please make sure they know how badly they are missed.
