It is with deep sadness that the family of Robert Lipton, 64, of Randolph, N.J., announces his passing. Rob (Robert, Robbie, Bob) died Thursday, February 13 after a short illness. There will be a graveside funeral service of Jewish tradition on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Riverside Cemetery located at 12 Market Street, Saddle Brook, NJ 07663 (PH# 201-843-7600).
A lifelong New Jersey resident, Rob was raised in Livingston where he graduated from Livingston High School (LHS) with the class of 1979. Rob attended Morris County College before he married and began a family. Over the years, Rob lived in Hopatcong, Succasunna and Randolph, with interim returns to Livingston.
For over 40 years, Rob spent his career working for Paper Mart Inc. in East Hanover, New Jersey, rising to the position of Shop Steward. Rob worked nights on the loading dock, faithfully preserving a very strong work ethic with exemplary performance. It would take only the worst weather conditions to keep Rob from getting to work. Loyalty personified Rob, and he expected it as much as he gave it.
As an avid sports fan, Rob supported the New York teams, but that never kept him from rooting for some of the national teams. He loved football, and the New York Giants was his favorite. In fact, there was never a shortage of Giants memorabilia in his home.
In his younger years, Rob enjoyed collecting sports trading cards and he had this innate ability to memorize and recite a broad mix of team and individual player statistics. During this time, Rob possessed skilled athletic prowess that typically made him a first choice for school and local sports activities, and he especially enjoyed playing football with his father Irwin and his siblings on the weekends.
Rob also enjoyed racing HO slot cars and assembling model airplanes. As a teenager, Rob frequently attended legendary classic rock band concerts, and many times managed to score the hottest seats. Rob loved having tropical fish as he proudly maintained a tank throughout the years.
Rob was a loving father to Tori and Erin and a proud and adored grandfather to Tarran, Elijah and Keyan. Rob is survived by his siblings Jeff (Nicole), Scott (Jackie), Robin (Amy), and Brian (Jane). Rob was predeceased by his loving parents Ellen and Irwin and will be warmly remembered by his nieces, nephews and cousins. Rob will be deeply missed by his uncle Mark and Aunt Maureen. Rob will forever have a special place in his beloved Marilyn’s heart.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
