

Ruth held a B.A. from the New Jersey City University and a M.Ed. in learning disabilities from Montclair State University. She spent most of her career working as a learning consultant in Winfield Township, and after she retired she volunteered as an ESL teacher.
Ruth was a leader of numerous Jewish organizations and causes. She was a devoted congregant of Temple Beth Shalom of Livingston, NJ for 51 years and a member of both Congregation Beth Tikvah of Naples, FL and Mishkan Shalom of Philadelphia, PA. She was an officer of the Women’s Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation of Greater Metrowest NJ, a board member of the Jewish Federation of Greater Metrowest NJ, an active member of the Jewish Federation of Collier County in Naples, FL, and served as the vice president of Collier/Lee County chapter of Hadassah.
An avid tennis and mah-jongg player, she also greatly enjoyed spending time with her dog Leanne at the doggie park and taking her grandchildren shopping.
She is survived by her husband, Martin Barber, and children Fran Davis, Scott Barber, and Meredith Barber, children-in-law Mike Davis, Jennifer Schwartz, and Michael Schwager and grandchildren Jessica Davis, Jenna Davis, Becky Barber, Mikayla Barber, Gabrielle Schwager and David Schwager, as well as her brother Michael Druck and her sister Barbara Mishkin.
