

Dr. Boodish was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Harry and Lillian Boodish, the family moved to Newark, where he graduated Weequahic High School. He attended Emory University from where he received both his undergraduate and masters’ degrees, and served as the first Jewish president of his fraternity, Tau Epsilon Pi. Wes was honored to be the only American in his class at St. Andrews Medical School in Scotland. It was in Scotland that his passion for golf began. He interned at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark before completing his residency at Childrens’ Hospital in Philadelphia. As a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, he spent one year in Vietnam, where he headed a sixteen man medical team caring for children, for which he received a bronze star. Along with his partner, Subita Mangru, Dr. Boodish practiced pediatrics in Millburn, New Jersey for over fifty years. Just recently he was honored by the Pediatrics Department of St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ for his extraordinary service to children. Dr. Boodish was predeceased by his parents and by his beloved in-laws, Samuel and Beatrice Wolfson. Surviving is his adoring and devoted wife of 46 years, Lynn, sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ben Azzatti, and his nephew David and his wife Nicole Azzatti. He will be long remembered and surely missed by thousands of children, many of whom are now adults, for whom he cared with great kindness and devotion. Dr. Boodish was a senior staff member of St. Barnabas Medical Center as well as a member of Temple B’nai Jeshurun, Livingston, NJ and of Crestmont Country Club, West Orange, NJ and served as president of the Roseland Glen Condominium Association for 10 years.
Services will be11:30 am Wednesday April 23 at Temple B’nai Jeshurun, 1025 South Orange Ave., Short Hills, NJ. Interment will follow to Beth David Memorial Park, Kenilworth, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Funeral Chapels, Livingston, NJ.
