Al was a devoted father to John (Beth Anne) Polich and Sheri Polich, a role he embraced with unwavering love and pride. He was the best friend and former husband of Linda Polich, with whom he shared many wonderful years of love, laughter, and companionship. He found immense joy in being a grandfather to Shane (Kyle Knight) Polich, Connor Polich, and Erin Polich, cherishing every moment spent with them. His love extended to his nieces and nephews, Rich (Holly) Polich, Deb (Russ Collins) Polich, Josephine Polich, and Don (Celia) Polich, who were all dear to his heart.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ann Polich, as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Barb Polich. Though he has left this world, the memories of his kindness, humor, and laughter will live on in those who knew and loved him.
A man with a deep affection for animals, Al was not only a devoted pet owner but also a trusted caretaker for friends’ beloved pets. His home was always filled with the warmth of wagging tails and gentle purrs, and he had a special way of making every animal feel loved.
Al’s enthusiasm for sports ran deep, and he remained a dedicated supporter of Detroit’s beloved teams—the Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings—through every season’s ups and downs. His passion for cars was just as strong. As a proud member of the Corvette Club and the Sports Car Club of America, he loved attending car shows, especially the annual Detroit Auto Show, where he admired classic beauties and cutting-edge designs alike.
An accomplished athlete, Al was a longtime softball player and a valued all-star team member for several years. His sportsmanship and dedication to the game earned him the respect of teammates and competitors alike.
Faith played an important role in Al’s life. As an active parishioner at St. Michael’s in Livonia, he was involved in his church community. One of his proudest contributions was creating and chairing a charity car show, combining his love for automobiles with his desire to give back.
Al’s life was one of passion, love, and devotion—to his family, his friends, his pets, and the many communities he was part of. He will be remembered not only for his many interests but, more importantly, for the warmth he brought into the lives of others.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Michigan Humane Society in honor of Al’s lifelong love for animals: https://give.michiganhumane.org/page/53914/donate/1
His legacy of kindness and love will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew him.
