Barbara Ann Sheedy, affectionately known as Barb, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, at the age of 82 in her home, holding the hands of her loved ones and surrounded by family that loved her more than anything. She was born on March 18, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to her loving parents, Joseph and Bernice Mallon.
Barb was the beloved wife of the late Jerome "Jerry" Sheedy, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. They were each other's soulmates, and an inspiration to all who knew them, showing what true love looked like. Barb was the loving mother of Dean (Angie) Sheedy and Lori (Michael)Papler, and a proud grandmother of Katelyn (Mitchell) Loney, Colin, Kylie, Conor, Sydney, Owen, and Samantha. She was also a devoted great-grandmother to Callahan and Liam Loney.
Barb was the dear sister of Mary-Ellen Quinn, Bonnie (Danny) Potts, and Patrick (Donna) Mallon, and a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. Her family was her heart, and she demonstrated her love through care and kindness, especially in times of need.
A proud graduate of St. Gabriel's High School in 1960, Barb was known for her talent in basketball and softball. She dedicated 29 years of service as an Executive Assistant for Ford Motor Company, retiring in 2008. Barb was a longtime and active member of St. Edith Catholic Church in Livonia, where she volunteered her time with a joyful heart.
Barb was a woman of quiet strength, always organizing, caring, and giving with a generous spirit. She was a natural caregiver, always tending to the needs of others, especially her husband Jerry and their family during difficult times.
In her free time, Barb enjoyed spending time on her back deck, watching the golfers, tending to the birds that nested above her, sitting in her favorite outdoor rocking chair, while also tending to her beautiful flower pot arrangements that she filled her deck with every summer, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Her passion for organization and bookkeeping was a defining characteristic of her personality, and her calm presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Barb’s love for her family, her generosity, and her unwavering faith will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know her.
