Bernice L. Hochthanner, 85, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020. Bernice was born on April 1, 1935 in Detroit to Norman and Lillian Hochthanner, the last of their three children. After graduation from high school Bernice received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Valparaiso University in Indiana. She retired as an Administrative Bookkeeper in the Steel Manufacturing Industry. Bernice was a TV sports fanatic, particularly hockey, football and baseball. Her family said, "If one were to visit when she was watching TV she would turn the set off, except if there was a game on". She had a true love of family, her faith, and philanthropy.
Bernice is survived by nieces and nephews, James (Patricia) Hochthanner, Carol (Ronald) Bostick, Thomas (Patricia) Hochthanner, Susan (Walter) Howell, Judith (Paul) Tedesco, Janice (John) Vogeli, Joan (Dennis) Lloyd, Glen Aretz, Gary Aretz, Brian Aretz, Sharon Aretz, and Gail (Carlos) Estrada. Nephew-in-law, Michael Hodnicki. Many great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her siblings, Norman (Lois) Hochthanner, Henrietta (Edward) Aretz; nephew, John Aretz; niece, Karen Hodnicki; and great-nephew, Todd Hochthanner.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 West Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Kenneth Spence officiating. Private burial will follow at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan.
