

In loving memory of Charles Jack Turnbill, who was born on July 12, 1939, in Wallsend, Kentucky, to Jack and Ella (Mills) Turnbill and left this world on February 6, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion. His passing marks the end of a life well-lived, filled with cherished moments, unwavering faith, and a deep love for family.
Charles dedicated a significant portion of his life to Detroit Diesel, where he contributed his skills and hard work, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked alongside. Before his career, Charles proudly served in the U.S. Army, exemplifying his commitment to duty and country.
A true sports enthusiast, Charles found immense joy in cheering for his favorite teams in baseball, basketball, and football. He also enjoyed traveling and creating lasting memories with family and friends.
In addition to his love of sports, travel and family, Charles had a passion for spreading the word of faith. He found fulfillment in preaching at His Place Church and Cornerstone Church, where he shared his spiritual journey and inspired others with his wisdom and compassion.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Carol Jean Turnbill, eight brothers and sisters, and a step-son (David Smith). He leaves behind a legacy of love through his biological children, Kimberly Kaye Walker (Gary) and Charles Jack Turnbill, Jr. (Wendy), as well as his step-children, Michael Smith (Deborah), Paul Smith and Pamela Jean Russell (Ronnie), along with his sister Lela Helton, and a host of grand-children, great grand-children, and other family members. His family was the center of his world, and his love for them knew no bounds. His guidance, warmth, and unwavering support will be dearly missed, but the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
As we mourn the loss of Charles Jack Turnbill, let us also celebrate the life he lived—a life marked by kindness, dedication, and an enduring love for family, faith, and the joy found in the simple pleasures of life. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal love that he so freely gave throughout his remarkable journey.
The family will welcome friends and family at Harry J Will Funeral Home in Livonia, Michigan (37000 Six Mile Road, Lavonia, MI 48152) from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, February 16, 2024, followed by a brief graveside service and entombment at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West in Westland, Michigan (34224 Ford Road, Westland, MI 48185).
