Erwin Klopfer

Beloved husband of the late Suzanne Klopfer, Erwin was the father of Greg (Tami) Klopfer, Jakob (Barb Madison) Klopfer, Tina Catenacci, and Sara (Edward) Sheehan. He was the grandfather of Emily, Gabe, Elyssa, Ben, Bella, Andrew, Ted, and Rory. He is also survived by his siblings Sophie, Ulrika, and Goetz, and by many nieces and nephews. Erwin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Suzanne, and siblings Barbara, Berndt, and Ulrich.

After immigrating to the United States, Erwin enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska. He later worked for General Motors as a skilled tool and die maker. A humble and hardworking man, Erwin found joy in simple pleasures, gardening, woodworking, and traveling to visit his family.

Erwin was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church in Waterford, where his faith was a meaningful part of his life. He and Suzanne lived in Clarkston for 30 years.

A memorial service celebrating Erwin’s life will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Christ Lutheran Church of Waterford at 11:00 AM (gathering at 10:00 AM).
