Gerald Joseph Jurzec

Gerald was raised in a two story flat in Dearborn Heights, but frequently visited his grandparents farm in Belleville, Michigan and his many cousins. Gerald was a 1964 graduate of Lowrey High School in Dearborn. While there he was the strongest offensive and defensive lineman for the Polar Bear's football team. During his playing career he was referred to as being the key to Lowrey's championship defensive unit.

Following high school Gerald continued his education graduating with a Bachelors of Science Engineering from Western Michigan University. He began working as a quality control engineer at Detroit Diesel. While there he was a world traveler for cost savings, then he was appointed part of a special task force for Roger Penske in cost savings. Gerald retired from Detroit Diesel after 30 years of distinguished service to the company.

In his free time Gerald loved being outside whether on his boat fishing, deer hunting or hitting some balls on the golf course. He made time for his friends, enjoying regular poker games with the Cattleman's Association, however, his greatest joy was his family. Gerald considered the birth of his granddaughters one of the proudest moments of his life, as well as the birth of his son and daughter, his daughter's wedding in Las Vegas and his son's marriage.

Gerald was the loving husband of Margaret “Peggy” for 45 years. Beloved father of John (Sue) and Lori (Bob). Cherished grandfather of Angela, Hannah and the late Hailey. Dearest Brother of Rita (Ken). Dear uncle of Mark (Gretel), Michael (Michelle), Lauren (Ben), Jamie and Jennifer. Brother-in-law of Marilyn & Al and Debbie & Jim.

Gerald's family will receive friends on Saturday September 15, 2012 from 5-8 pm and Sunday September 16 from 11 am until the time of his funeral service officated by Fr. Tom Belczak at 1 pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd. (east of Newburgh and I-275) in Livonia.
