Herbert M. Fritz, 92 of Newport passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023, the way he wished, in Livonia surrounded by his family. He is survived by his daughter Debra Hiemstra, grandson Cody Hiemstra, long term partner Carola Courtney and her children Jennifer Courtney and her daughter Jessica Stevens, Jamie Courtney and his children Gabrielle Bravo, Gavin and Aaron Courtney. He is also survived by his previous wife Lois Fritz. He is preceded in death by his parents, Max and Hedwig Fritz.
He served his country proudly in the Korean War as an armsmen. He worked many years for Ford Motor Company. He loved spending time with his family and the outdoors spending time skiing, sailing and camping. He loved plants and was quite the gardener and had quite the reputation as a handyman or Mr. Fix It.
Memorial gathering, Saturday April 22, 2023 from 1PM-2PM with a Military Service at 1:45PM at Grand Lawn Cemetery: 23501 Grand River Avenue, Detroit, MI 48219.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in Herbert’s name to Michigan Humane Society.
