Hurley was a kind, loving extrovert. No one was a stranger to him, especially on the golf course. In addition to golf, he was passionate about gardening, bowling, baseball, and traveling. His favorite trip was one taken to Italy to meet the De Filippis family. He retired from Hostess where he worked as a Route Salesman. He was a longtime member of the Italian American Club in Livonia, where he served on the Board of Directors and spent many nights volunteering. Hurley proudly served in the US Army.
Surviving him is his loving wife Fran, whom he met at the bowling alley. Through his illnesses, she continued to be his rock. He will also be deeply missed by great nephews Aiden Havener and Travis Krul, great niece Chloe Krul, daughter Jaime (Ronnie) Smith, grandchildren Maddy, Aubrey and William, sisters Effie (Forrest) Fordham, Lois (Lynn) Watson, and Faye (Tony) Tisot, sisters-in-law Joni Fields and Maria Havener, brother-in-law Pete De Filippis, nieces Andrea (Thomas) Krul, Kelsey Havener, Michele (Bob) Glisson, and Lori (Steven) Bass, as well as many great nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Hurley was preceded in death by his parents Lestin and Emogene Fields and brother Douglas Fields, as well as his in-laws Rosa and Aristide De Filippis.
