Janet was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend—a protector and confidant to those she loved. She cherished time with her family and created a home that was always open, filled with warmth, love, and everyone’s favorite snacks. An animal enthusiast and collector of sentimental treasures, Janet found joy in the little things. She made the best banana pudding around, had an infectious laugh, and loved playing Bingo, gardening, and hosting family gatherings.
Following her time at Mumford High School in Detroit, Janet went on to earn her paralegal certificate from the American Institute for Paralegal Studies, Inc. in 1994. She built a dedicated and accomplished career, working at P.R.I.M.E., Inc. as an office manager and paralegal, at Bank One as a sales and property tax lead, and at JP Morgan as the manager of the title preparation group. She concluded her career at Henry Ford Hospital as a patient safety assistant, where she was honored with the Honey Bee Award in 2023 and 2024 for her compassion, courtesy, and positive attitude.
Janet’s love extended far beyond her family into the community. She was a passionate advocate for underserved youth and was always willing to invest her time, energy, and care into those in need, often opening her doors and her heart to others. She also served as the Wayne County Commission District 6 Membership Chairman of the Berg-Lahser Community Association, where she worked to uplift and support her community.
Janet was formerly married to James Hobbs, and from this union came her greatest joy, her beloved son, Jeremy Hobbs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gisela Brown and Clint Brown.
Janet is survived by her beloved son, Jeremy Hobbs; her grandchildren, Jazzmin Hobbs, Jesse Hobbs, Jeremy Hobbs Jr., and Jeremia Hobbs; and her siblings, Bodo (Michelle) Brown, Marion (Stephen) Beever, Bobby Brown, Diana Brown, and Carmen (Mark) Beals.
